  • Hero 5 and 6 Lens Options?

Does anyone know if it's possible to replace the M12 lens from the Hero 5/6 without removing the front faceplate? Not the square lens cover with the o-ring, but the front faceplate with all that waterproofing. Very hard to tell from these videos but I think it might be possible (no response yet from the makers of the videos)

If he 5 or 6 is dissassembled, it will no longer be waterproof. The faceplate is electronicallly welded. Action cams have their fixed focus lenses hot glued once focused. It is unlikely to be different from all other Chinese action cams!

Why did you bother replying to my post without reading it?

Anyway I was able to learn the following. The lens can be removed without removing the faceplate, but requires needle nose pliers. Hero 5 lens mount is M12*p0.35 threading. No word yet on Hero 6 lens mount threading, or whether either of them can be replaced with a standard M12 mount.
