I believe it is mostly the same with Akaso V50x except case and touchscreen.

20190806-V1.0 firmware - https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Ba...dJq9VKnMRS2gMX
except for human readable text files, most files seem to be gzip compressed and/or jffs2 images. easy peasy to dig into them using Linux.
More info is in this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Nc83Qzychg

Here are the Dragon Touch Vista 5 @Amazon US, @Aliexpress and the Campark V30 @Amazon US, @ DrekiTech's blog. These two cameras seem to be 99% the same, and they are very similar to the Akaso V50X in post #6 here. H.265 (HEVC) encoding is available is some modes. Stabilization is decent and is available in popular modes. Stabilization is available in more modes when using H.264 (AVC) encoding, but not H.265 encoding.

I ordered this extra waterproof case for the camera. It's listed on Amazon US and on Aliexpress for fitting the Akaso Brave 4 and Akaso V50X cameras. Notice that the inner front ring of the case where the camera's lens goes is bigger by, I'm guessing, 1 to 2 centimeters compared to more common SJ4000 / Eken H9 waterproof cases. Also, the power/mode button is at bottom which is hard to find. Hope the case works 🤞

*Update - the Aliexpress seller sent me the wrong case by mail which seems to be for a SJ4000 or Eken H9. the seller doesn't have any correct cases in stock so he/she offered me a refund. I'll take the $ back of course. So ... now I have ordered the correct case from Amazon US along with some cheapy DBPOWER and TEC.BEAN $20 cameras. Let's see what happens next ...Last edited by petesimon; 01-13-2020, 07:07 PM.

*Update - There is audible buzz noise in most video modes. It's more audible in the 1080p 90 fps mode. Overall, it isn't so bad. However, if you use headphones or good speakers when you listen to the sound of the video, then yeah you'll really hear it.

Surprise! The Dragon Touch Vista 5 and the Campark V30 cameras often cost less than an Akaso V50X. Now I know why. Hehe. It's because HDKING makes the first two cameras, listed as the model H561, also known as the S561 on Aliexpress https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001031514477.html

On my campark V30 video it was mentioned that the V30 seemed to crush blacks in certain instances. I realize it was because I shot half the footage with WDR on and half with it off. Here is a comparison between the V30 and Akaso V50 X WDR on/off modes. Akaso default video is more akin to campark with WDR on. Ignore the smudge in the middle of the akaso lens, I broke it by accident :l
See stills attached below. V50 X is the one with the smudge on the lens (it is broken).
Anyways, the point of this was:- Campark V30 tends to crush shadows more compared to Akaso V50 X
- Turning on WDR helps but it does not completely fix it
- Playing in Films & TV minimizes this difference somewhat
- Campark V30 has better audio than Akaso V50 X

I am kind of making excuses for myself here, but I just noticed something interesting. Windows built in movie player seems to HDR the video on its own, so this is possibly why I did not notice the crushed blacks on the V30 until they were pointed out. Because I played sample footage on Films & TV, and also check my YT videos on it before uploading... Check out the difference playing the video in windows Films & TV versus MPC-HC. This is the same video file!

Download this great piece of software: https://sourceforge.net/projects/vdfiltermod/
You can change it by yourself to see the difference ('Video-Decode Format-Component range').

interesting! also try latest nightly VLC https://nightlies.videolan.org/ and latest nightly MPC-BE https://www.videohelp.com/software/MPC-BE
maybe also tweak the output, color, renderer and/or decoder settings in the software
-
nutsey Thanks, that is super interesting. Films & TV and Davinci Resolve (the editing software I use) show it the brighter version as above. Even with MPC-HC set to 0-255 colour range it seems to be showing video with a darker scene (and funny enough Windows Media Player is the same). When I output through Resolve, the final image I get played in any player is closer to what you see with MPC-HC originally so maybe some of my settings are off there. So it must be a mix of things that resulted in the crushed blacks. WDR on improves it in camera + player + output issues in Resolve... This could make its own thread lol

Note how the Hi3559V200 SoC powerful is - the clip above shot at 1080p30 with 105Mbit/s bitrate and H.265/HEVC compression (GOP=3).Last edited by nutsey; 01-03-2020, 02:40 PM.
