Snoppa Vmate gimbal camera (Hi3556AV100 + IMX377).

Great Mod, but beside the awesome work it seams that the cam is not a real 4k and the most modern cameras had besser EIS than this gimbal. Can you confirm?Photography • Film • Lifestyle - DigitalMinds Photography

when i capture a screenshot from the video and see it on 100% ... it seems that its more a 2,7k upresampled to 4k. but maybe its the HDR effect.Photography • Film • Lifestyle - DigitalMinds Photography

Just got one of these. The problem with this gimbal cam is not bitrate.
issues:
The electronic image stabilization looks pretty bad (in 2020 terms compared to a GoPro 8 or a DJI Osmo Action). The image grabs and wobbles a lot compared to better equipment. Maybe the EIS could be disabled? This would also get you the full raster on the detector which would improve sharpness.
The stock firmware skips frames when in 4k60 h265 mode. Beyond actual skipped frames, the look of the video is very variable frame rate. It seems like it is outputting a frame whenever the processor gets around to it.
Finally, the gimbal algorithm or hardware itself is trash compared to the DJI osmo pocket. The gimbal doesn’t follow in pan very well at all and gets stuck at angles relative to the follow direction. The control loop on stabilizing roll isn’t very well tuned.
When compared to the osmo pocket, the only thing this camera does right is focus. The autofocus can cleanly focus on things that the pocket cannot and there is a real manual focus control in the app and their is no way to manual focus the osmo pocket at all.
anyhow, if we could disable the EIS and lower the bitrate to the point that it stops skipping frames, the Vmate might start to compete with the pocket as long as you don’t move it. Use it as a PTZ camera with no body motion.
