Many multiframe HDR solutions that use 2-frame merging work in this manner: the long exposure frame is 0EV and the short exposure one is -3EV. Would not it be better to shift the HDR range to +1EV/-1EV (with proper AE changes) in order to decrease ghosting artifacts and to improve flickering problems? Going to test it out soon. Is anyone here interested in samples, comparisons and further HDR discussions?
BTW does anyone know any current or upcoming IMX390/IMX490 dashcams? These Sony (ex-Toshiba) sensors look very interesting providing 3-frame HDR and LED flicker reduction at the same time.
