  • Xiaomi YI mods for Z26L fw 1.4.8

Just bought YI camera and as I can see, there is no script for this version.
Is there any possibility for scripts update in future?

    Greets!

Hi! If this version is different only in lens or battery modification or something not vital like that, it can be downgraded to 1.2.13 firmware.

In order to update scripts (f.e. my YiMax series) for working with this current Z26 revision I need to get the cam itself... So, if anyone really needs those scripts I don't mind getting one for research.

    Regards!

Well I really don't know what's the difference.
There is very little information about this version, barely 2-3 posts on other forums.
Of course, on YI web site there is even less info.
They didn't even list Z25L in firmware list, not this Z26L.
I would like to be helpful, but I doubt that I can.

Let's see what we can do here

Unpack this script to the root of a microsd card: memory_dump.zip

Turn on your Yi, wait until it beeps and turns off. Share the 'dump.bin' file from your memory card.

Hi, I hope it's ok, that I uploaded the memory dump to wetransfer.
Got 1 Z23L with your script running and wanted to add 4 more to those because I rather like it, but those are the Z26L Versions and the script is not working...

could you do maybe some short comparison test with Z23/Z26 in same conditions?
I saw on 4pda.ru that someone said that this vertical lines are visible with sony sensor too, which is very doubtful, because I think I read and watch every test/review which I could find on the net, and nobody complained at this.
at the end, it wouldn't be bad to know at first hand how much they differ from each other.
maybe to make few short clips at daylight, under room lighting and in low light.

          I guess it's ok while it's from Z26L version.

Little off: how do work yours Z26L in low light? I'm not sure, but I think that I got a faulty unit.
In low light (low light = night on the street with street lights) I can clearly see that image is splitted at the middle and one half is brighter than other, not drastically but visible. It's look like one half have lower contrast and exposure.

Any news on this? Is there a way I can extract the current firmware without any special hardware? Thanks!

What I can tell from my tests is that the normal stuff is working.

                  example:
                  t pwm 1 enable
                  sleep 2
                  t pwm 1 disable

i is beeping for 2 sec on startup...

The 4GB Clipsize line is rebooting the yi.

                  # 4GB Clipping
                  writew 0xC03A8520 0x2004

Changes in resolution and bitrate seem to do nothing
                  example:

                  # Sets Bitrate to 35Mbs.
                  writew 0xC05C2092 0x420C

                  # 1600x1200p recording
                  writeb 0xC06CC426 0x0C

I guess the addresses have changed in newer firmware.

                    Here we go... :-)
Bitrate addresses are shifted by 6000
                    Resolutions are shifted by 8000

                    #z23
                    # 4GB Clipping
                    #writew 0xC03A8520 0x2004

                    # Sets Bitrate to 35Mbs.
                    writew 0xC05C2092 0x420C

                    # 1600x1200p recording
                    writeb 0xC06CC426 0x0C

                    #Resize 1920x1080p
                    writel 0xC05C2D7C 0x04380780

                    #z26 1.4.8
                    # 1600x1200p recording
                    writeb 0xC06D4426 0x0C

                    #Resize 1920x1080p
                    writel 0xC05C8D7C 0x04380780

This is what I found out by comparing 2 dumps. I'm sure nutsey will find much more.

                    EDIT:
                    Untested:
                    # Sets Bitrate to 35Mbs.
                    writew 0xC05CA092 0x420C

                    # 4GB Clipping
                    #writew 0xC03A9C94 0x2004

I can confirm that the 1600x1200/50p setting works, the bitrate doesn't and a lot of stuff like turning denoising off doesn't either

Let's find out what is going on under the hood. Can anyone with Z26 share the file produced with this script?

PS: Z25 (1.3.0) also would be great.

Sorry, my fault. It was 4AM here and i messed up the shifting. ;-)

                          #z26 1.4.8
                          # 4GB Clipping
                          #writew 0xC03A9C94 0x2004

                          # Sets Bitrate to 35Mbs for 1600x1200p60.
                          writew 0xC05C8092 0x420C

                          # 1600x1200p60 recording
                          writeb 0xC06D4426 0x0C

                          #Resize 1920x1080p
                          writel 0xC05C8D7C 0x04380780

                          This will capture 1600x1200p60 @ 35Mbs --> Resized to 1080p60 (Superview)
                          I tested it.

                          I attached you a log.

                          EDIT: Clipping works. Just tested

ZeroFPV Wow. You've got Panasonic sensor:

                            Code:
                            system.sensor_id MN34120PA_ID

                            Comment

                            Working...
