I've added several new video modes to my 7S MODx firmware.
1. "3K30" - 2880x1620 30fps 16:9. RAW Sample
This mode provides the highest resolution for 30 fps.
2. "Superview" or "S_VU" - 2560x1920 30fps 4:3. RAW Sample
This mode provides the widest FOV to get all the details. The resolution is slightly lower than in 3K30.
3. CCTV video mode. 1280x720 10fps. 800/1200 kbps bitrate. RAW Sample for 'High' bitrate setting. RAW Sample for 'Low' bitrate setting with 'Black&white' enabled (note that it is not completely b&w due to the bug in original fw).
This mode can be used to replace a 720P HD security camera. It can record almost 3 days of video in 'low' bitrate (~2 days in 'high') with 32Gb memory card.

hey nutsey. I am using MOD3 firmware and I like 1080p60 best. But I tried 3k30 mode in a dark room setting (with small lamp light), and I set the Frame Preferred to ON, and Gyro OFF, and other settings were normal/default. Hey every 5th frame is a duplicate of the 4th frame. So the real frame rate is what...? uh 25 fps?
for the bit rates above 30, and especially above 40, I highly recommend a PRO or EXTREME or similar good quality U3 speed sd card.
the front of the card will have a [3] symbol and will be UHS-I specification.
You can try this firmware without flashing - rename file to FW96660T.bin and place it to your memory card. It will be loaded into memory on startup. Remove the card and reboot to undo.

I wonder if the "flat" option can be a little more useful as wide dynamic range footages like GoPro Hero's.
Since usually high end wdr camera footage look flat and unattractive without grading.
But you know, low contrast, WDR footages can be colour graded in the post process and get more high and low light details.
Edit: I just inspected sample footages and yes, clearly there are more details in the shadows with the Flat mode.
bruceballad I also managed to get more details in highlights (as well as in shadows) with my custom firmware for GitUp Git1 cam. For some reason here I can't do that yet... Need to do more research.
UPD: Good news! I found a way how to improve highlights.
