Nutsey, do you have this camera? How do you like it? Which frame video resolution and frame rates does it support in UVC (webcam) mode?

      Hi everybody.
I am new here and on the action camera.
Some time ago bought a action camera on Gearbest named sj8000. On the specs says that has a Novatec 96660, with a imx 117. I look every where (on Gearbest support also) for a new firmware, because i think my camera has a issue with battery duration. I have 20170707 version and i know (from a conversation with one Alibaba seller) there is a newest firmware.
His this firmware compatible with my camera?
      Best Regards
      João Jacinto

I don't think that the specs for this SJ8000 cam is real. Most likely it has IMX078 sensor inside.

i recommend to NOT flash your Novatek camera because you 99% likely will 'brick' it

How can verify the right sensor.
On the specs says is a imx 117.

If it is really a imx 117, can i flash it?

      Best Regards

        1. Disassembling and visual control.
        2. Disassembling and SPI-flash dump with further research to verify sensor model.
        3. Getting a firmware that will work for your cam with further research to verify sensor model.

The pixel count matches 16M IMX206 sensor. But probably it is interpolated.

      Hi again nutsey.
As i told were before, i am New on this things of action camera

Disassembly, is out of question for me, i think i have no skils for that.
About firmware, have already ask Gearbest from it and have no positive response, also answer that it's discontinued.
      My actual firmware is 20170707.
Is there any way of getting info from my actual firmware?

Your firmware is stored inside the flash memory chip soldered to the main PCB of your device and there are no non-invasive ways to get it downloaded to your PC.

By the way, I forgot about #4 (in addition to 1-3 above). It's "Disassembling, conecting to RX/TX/GND (if any) and reading UART output."
    Working...
