SOOCOO released C50 cam. It is good old C30 with NT96660+IMX078 inside. Only body design and UI updated (hope Gyro is also works better).

is the gyro on/off (EIS / anti-shake) setting is called "Gyro RSC" ? I see that setting when I press power/mode button several times, and forward/down button several times.
      my firmware is this:
      SOOCOO/C50
      20161122 V1.0

Even EleCam used the faster SONY IMX117 sensor (35fps) in their Explorer Pro but for some unknown reason revert to the SONY IMX078 (20fps) sensor for their follow up Explorer ELITE. The mind boggles.

So they are "misleading" in their advertising? Wouldn't surprise me at all, though, as the IMX078 and IMX117 sensors are supposedly the same pinouts it's possible the programmer couldn't be bothered changing the name in the BIN file?
I have on a few FW96660A.bin files that show original(?) f/w date Feb 2015 for NTK96660 for various 2016 f/w releases. Makes it hard to figure what version they are unless programmers flag date at the start of file which was more prevalent in the NT96650/55 days. Note: the clock speeds are different so it will brick the cam if they get mixed up.

Looks like part Firefly, the case layout without front screen! Same as SooCoo C30 so lets hope the f/w has been upgraded supplying a better UI

Programmers here are limited with the features provided by Novatek SDK. In short, they can only choose something from the list of compatible hardware and can not add anything new. IMX117 was not supported by Novatek SDK at the moment of its release.

thanks for the nomenclature info. but...generally... prices now of f69 and f80 are higher than soocoo branded c30 and c50. i got my c50 for $66 from aliexpress http://ali.onl/whf

thanks. I'm slowly replacing my Allwinner V3 "arsenal" with some Novatek cameras... plus one Eken Ambarella camera. So, I ordered a F69 for ~$53 on Aliexpress http://ali.onl/A5G but I hope it's not a super cheap knockoff of the clone of a Soocoo C30 / Cotuo CS96.

Correct. Explorer Pro is using IMX078 not IMX117 and confirmed as "never implemented" by Novatek. Only upgrade to NT96660 by Novatek was "voice mode" for SooCoo C30 V2.0 as later used by Explorer Pro apparently.

Novatek SDK is updating permanently fixing bugs and adding new features. As far as I know, 660 SoC (aka NT96660) now supports Sony IMX117 sensor.

Since then Novatek have indeed upgraded the NT96660 to support IMX117 sensor.

I got a C50 in the mail today from Aliexpress. The "Version" screen shows this:
                Code:
                SOOCOO/C50
                20161122 V1.0
                .
                .
Are there V1 and V2 different hardware revisions of the cameras? ... Would I brick my cam or downgrade my current firmware?

Update - the flash of above 20161119 V2.0 worked on my C50 http://ali.onl/whf but nothing significant changed. and I don't remember the little changes.
and there wasn't before and isn't now any voice input/output, or least don't know how to make it work.

I ordered and am waiting for a C50. Notice how the C50 waterproof case (housing) is different than most cases. I think it is unique thus far.

Where can I buy another case that is designed for a C50?

Below is a comparison of cases that I have found which are similar the C50 case to but not exactly right.

              First - C50.
              Second - GoPro Hero 3 (4).
              Third - Eken (H3 or H8)

By the way, I still can not find a waterproof SJ4000 style case that exactly fits my Andoer 4k (Allwinner V3) camera that has the power/mode button at bottom.

Here is my Soocoo C50 (similar to C30) camera. $66 USD from Aliexpress http://ali.onl/whf . The quality and color are quite acceptably nice for the price. Bitrates are good when set to "High" in the configuration menu. However, the Gyro (EIS, anti-shake) is rather weak, and "shaking" or "jittering" is still very much there in video files, the gyro but does improve the image a little bit, especially for somewhat steady or low turbulence scenarios. There is the famous Angle (or FOV) setting that is found the C30, and the options are not numbers but are: Large, Medium, and Small.

                Video modes:
2160p 24fps -- NOTE: this is somewhat fake 4k, because the resolution is actually 2880x2160, instead of 3840x2160
                1440p 30fps
                1080p 60fps
                1080p 30fps
                720p 120fps
                720p 60fps

Bitrates, including audio, when set to "High":
                2160p 24fps = 26 Mbps
                1440p 30fps = 28 Mbps
1080p 60fps = 37 Mbps -- NOTE: you will need a very good U1 sdcard for this, or just always use a U3 sdcard.
                1080p 30fps = 25 Mbps
720p 120fps = 37 (to 38) Mbps -- NOTE: you will need a very good U1 sdcard for this, or just always use a U3 sdcard.
                720p 60fps = 26 Mbps
                *EDIT*
                720p 120fps SLOW MOTION ENABLED = 9 Mbps

and Bitrates, including audio, when set to "Low":
                2160p 24fps = 22 Mbps
                1440p 30fps = 21 Mbps
                1080p 60fps = 25 Mbps
                1080p 30fps = 15 Mbps
                720p 120fps = 19 Mbps
                720p 60fps = 14 Mbps
                .

                - Notice: All numbers that I wrote above for bitrates are rounded up to the nearest whole number in Mb. Furthermore, all bitrates in the camera are variable and so the bitrates that you can see in Mediainfo or Windows Explorer file manager are approximate/estimates.

There are quite a few good settings for lighting, color, function/environment and scene ("mode"), and FPV(?):
                • Exposure
                • ISO
                • Color
                • Sharpness
                • White Balance (including under water)
                • Night
                • WDR (wide dynamic range)
                • Diving (hm, what is this?)
                • Time-lapse
                • TV Mode (NTSC or PAL)
                • TV Out
                • Bitrate (High or Low)
                • Angle
                • Gyro RSC .... what is "RSC" ?
Here are mp4 video file samples (shared folder) - https://yadi.sk/d/PtPGWo2b3HqBdo

Enable Wifi mode by press-and-holding the forward (up) button for 3 to 4 seconds. The wifi (SSID) name and password will be showing on the camera screen. I found "SOOCOO" apps to work okay but not so good. So I searched and found "FN Cam" version 1.1.5 from FusionNext, and "Wimius CAM Pro" from WeTopU to work better.
Download FN Cam, Wimius CAM Pro and other wifi apps - https://www.dropbox.com/sh/3aa8l190u...GJF0oyGra?dl=0

RTSP video streaming and HTTP web browsing of files are easy peasy. ^_^ Just use the URL rtsp://192.168.1.254/live in a media player such as VLC or MPC-HC (shown), and use the camera IP 192.168.1.254 in a web browser to see files. *** Your camera may have a different IP address and you may need to use a different URL for rtsp video streaming.
If 'Timestamp' is ON is the configuration menu, then yes we will see it both in live streaming and in video files.
                .

Analyzing network packets (download here) in Wireshark, from tcpdump ran on a rooted Android phone shows that the best RTSP URL could be rtsp://192.168.1.254/xxxx.mov

Also check messages in the Goprawn Novatek forums and Dashcamtalk forums to see what other URL's and/or commands you can use such as this:
                Code:
                http://192.168.1.254/?custom=1&cmd=2001&par=1
After connecting the camera to USB, the "PC Camera" mode is for using it as a webcam or surveillance by usb cable cam. WebcamViewer (download link here) program lets me choose 1920x1080 but I don't know if it's true 1080p. PC Camera name is "DEMO1". This is the same name for the USB mass storage (sdcard) device.

See attached photos below, and see more photos in this album - https://ibb.co/album/mH9U1F

I'm looking for newer firmware that fits my "V1.0" camera, if that makes any difference.

Well, do you got any feedback or ideas about this C50 camera?

using the factory firmware 20161122V1.0, you can press forward (up) button once, wait 1 second, and press it again, and press shutter.
                  here are the video modes:
                  2160p 24FPS
                  1440p 30fps
1080p 60fps -- bitrate is around 37 Mbps/s when set to "High". so you will need a very good U1 sdcard for this, or just always use a U3 sdcard.
                  1080p 30fps
                  720p 120fps
                  720p 60fps

1440p (2.5k) 30fps and 1080p 30fps are my favorites for general purposes, and 1080p 60fps is very nice for faster moving things. as usual with these lower price cameras, the 4k mode has a lower bitrate than it should and the video quality is generally not so good. oh! that rhymes

the Soocoo C50 can take photos in 4:3 aspect ratio in different resolutions, 5MP and some other higher res's, it also takes RAW photos. So, I'm trying to convert/decode these RAW files, but I can't. I can't find a Soocoo converter, I don't have Adobe Photoshop, ACDSee Ultimate 10 (came with computer) does not work, SJCAM converter does not work, dcraw v9.27 command-line tool does not work, something called IQRaw (looks like Windows XP) does not work, etc ...

Here is a 5MP, 2592x1944, RAW photo file.
                download, and extract - https://www.dropbox.com/s/jvxpqw5qle...4_raw.zip?dl=0

It should look very similar to this JPG (same size) - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/...4_001.JPG?dl=0
                .

                .
Can someone decipher this RAW thing?
Or is my "goose cooked" ?

                  1. Convert 12 to 16bit;
                  2. Convert RAW to DNG;

thanks! i will sometime learn more about processing RAW images. and I think the camera defaults to 12 MP setting ...uh or whatever... when RAW is enabled.

here are megapixel-size options in the menu:

                *EDIT*
oh look... a camera that's similar to the Soocoo C50 but it's called the Blackview DV710 ( link here ). it would seem to be a generic clone of a Soocoo or Firefly much like clones sold on Aliexpress. but in 1080p. and there is not any good support website for this that I can find, but just this http://www.szdome.com/product-detail-53.html and there is not yet any review for this. :/

the Blackview DV750 ( link here ) is more like a Soocoo C50 and can record 2k and a kind of "4k". I can't find any website selling this.

I'm looking for firmware updates for these Blackview DV7xx cameras... mainly because the gyro EIS on my Soocoo C50 is not so good, and there is only one firmware update in www.soocoo.cc website but that doesn't fix the gyro eis.

                  any ideas?
