  • How to identify this camera?

    Good evening,

I don't know how to identify this camera [1]. Anyone knows what it can be?
The menus look quite like a few screenshots of eken clones I've seen around here [2].

The 'firmware information' entry of the menu reads:
    Version: 20180903V25
    Updated: 20180903
Also, the 'dd' command is missing from the system (via 'adb shell'). I get the error message:
    /system/bin/sh: dd: not found
Because of that I'm having trouble backing up / copying the firmware on an sdcard.
Does anyone know any workaround? (I'm on Linux)

there are too many "eken clones" to pinpoint which camera you have. so, what eken clones are you talking about ?
please power on the camera, take photos of the front, and top and rear of the camera and post the photos here.

PS: I can't manage to backup the firmware since the dd command is not available...
      [email protected]:/ # dd if=/dev/block/mtdblock0 of=/mnt/extsd/backup/0-uboot.img
      /system/bin/sh: dd: not found
      Isn't that strange ?

busybox works in the camera. 'dd' command is inside busybox. download the "busybox-armv7l" binary from and copy it to the root folder of the camera using adb push and do the 'dd' command that you want.
        adb kill-server
        adb root
        adb remount
        adb push busybox-armv7l /busybox
        adb shell
        chmod 755 /busybox
        /busybox dd if=/dev/block/mtdblock0 of=/mnt/extsd/backup/0-uboot.img
continue to use /busybox dd to backup other mtdblock's
you could also watch this video and use the "backup2.cmd" script

Can you check if the /bin/toolbox is available?

        Yes. There is!

        [email protected]:/ # toolbox
So 'toolbox dd' should do the work then, right ?

PS: There's a kernel loaded module named imx179v. Am I right in thinking that it's an Allwinner system with a imx179 Sony sensor ?

        [email protected]:/ # lsmod

Here's a link to the firmware:

I couldn't make the fwinfo script work so I ended up gathering the firmware information manually.
To do this, I just mounted the system.img image file as a loop device and then sifted through the relevant files (build.prop, /etc/MiniGUI.cfg, /etc/info.xml ... )

sudo mount -o loop -t squashfs 2-system.img system

Firmware information (Warning - manually compiled):
          Product: fx1gddrimx179vpq-sdv
          Manufacturer: lzm
          Short id: fuxin
          OEM id: zhongxing_ir
          Camera type: fx2830
          FW orig. date:
          FW mod. date: 20171012
          FW date:
          Camera name:

          LCD count: 1

          I hope I'm not mistaken.
