  • GeneralPlus firmware hack possible? Need to reduce a stream quality.

Hi, I want to reduce video quality on SQ11. As far as I know it's based on GPCV1248 SoC (MJPEG only). Any useful info? How can I load firwmare dump into the IDAPro?
SQ13 uses more advanced GeneralPlus SoC with H.264 support. This is also an option for me.

Hi, could you share your cam's SPI memory dump?

I have no camera now, I'm just ordering. I have found a firmware for SQ8 on 4pda.
      SQ8 is also GPCV1248 AFAIK .

This dump is from a Syntek-based camera not Generalplus...

I've received my cam. nutsey, do you know this chip (marked as 1829NRZ) ? CMOS looks like OV1024 (640x480). I've got DUMP from this cam (SQ11). I've also found a DUMP from SQ8 with same chip. These ROM's are extremely small (4KB is used out of 512KB FLASH). When connecting USB the device VID_1902&PID_3232 appears.

Actually I've found another micro cam with low bitrate (without fake HD), I guess same chip. But I still would like to try to modify SQ11.

Why should anyone (including me) spend any time for this kind of devices?

Sorry, I don't ask you to do something you don't like. Take it easy
If you have no idea what this chip is, just say it.
As I said, I've already found (it seems) low-bitrate small camera for my specific use case (small, power-efficient, cheap, 12+ hours record time). But I'm still trying with already existing cam. Mostly for fun and to get new knowleges (but it seems no luck because of noname SoC and lack of experience).

Thanks for FW sharing! Any news about mod possible?

Generalplus uses some kind of unknown compression for its modern firmwares ('GPZP' magic bytes). Here is an example of such compressed data. Does anyone have an idea what compression algorithm is used here?
