  • Noob needs expert help. Identify and fw update

Hey guys I just got this action camera from eBay. The main selling point for me was the front display and the multiple frame rates. The box advertises 4k and 2.7k at 30 fps 1080 at 60fps and 720 at 120fps. I understand that video is often scaled up and not true 4k but I was very disappointed to only see 30fps in the settings. I tried multiple speed sd cards including a very expensive high speed 32gb card I use in my Pentax camera. No luck. Also the wifi shows up on my iPhone and iPad but when I go to connect it simply refuses. I tried forgetting my home network because the lack of internet connection could cause it to ditch a wifi camera network. I emailed the seller on eBay and he kindly gave me $10 to stfu 😂. I've watched videos by Petesimon, very informative and I hope you see this and can help. I have a Mac, ideally what I would like to do is just drag firmware update files to the SD card then pop it into the camera. It's the same design and look of the andoer dual screen 4k camera and the WIMIUS q4 camera. I apologize for not uploading a copy of my firmware here I attempted to but with a Mac it was harder to follow and I didn't want to destroy anything.

Sorry for the longasspost but if there's anyone who can fix it, they'd be on this forum, I really appreciate you guys! I'll attach photos in one second. Typing this up on my phone.

Hello TylerHMartin. Thanks for the info and for the mention of me hehe I am not sure what processor chip is inside that camera, and I am also not sure what firmware would work (or where it is) at this moment. Could be a GeneralPlus but maybe another.

Would you please put the camera into Photo mode and take a photo. You can open the photo and get Exif data from the Jpg photo file.
Share the Exif data of the Jpg file and the unprocessed Jpg file itself from the sdcard to google-drive or dropbox and put the share link here for us to see. Sometimes the file name scheme and the Exif data inside Jpg files tells us some useful info.

Here is a photo file and its Exif data from an Allwinner V3 camera.
      EXIF info below:
      Filename - 20160101_000111A.jpg

      ExifOffset - 886
ImageDescription - This photo is taken by AllWinner's v3-sdv

Here is another photo file and its Exif data from a Novatek (96660) camera.
      EXIF info below:

Thank you for the quick reply! Yes I can, I'll be home in 5 minutes and will post asap. I really hope the equilivant andoer software will be comparable. It looks much better than this haha.
