All the problems with my camera Akaso V50 Pro seem like Firmware related:

    1. Touch screen does NOT respond to touch.
    2. I see "Auto Low light" menu but I cannot select it.
    3. I see "Long Exposure" menu but I cannot select it.

Inside the battery cover it says: Akaso Model V50PRO TJT180919V60593 and System Info says "V50 Pro TJT11162018_V5". This might not be the right Firmware for my hardware.

Is there a Firmware update that I should install? Mine is V.5. Is there a V.6? Thanks.

was older firmware on the camera? did you manually update the firmware to TJT11162018_V5 ?

maybe an older firmware could work better for you. i have been using different versions of Akaso V50 Pro firmware in my MGCOOL Explorer 3 camera from different rar files and they work fine. be careful but, you can try Akaso V50 Pro firmware that I have collected - http://pc.cd/GDkrtalK

I did not write down the original firmware version :-(. Yes, I manually updated to TJT11162018_V5.

Subsequently, I followed your suggestion of trying an older firmware from your collection http://pc.cd/GDkrtalK . I started off with AKASO_V5-Pro_H265_180605-h265_fix .
Since this one did not fix any of the problems (see original post), I tried installing AKASO_V50 Pro_111618_V5 back. NO SUCCESS! My V50Pro now does not do auto "FW UPDATE". Am I stuck with AKASO_V5-Pro_H265_180605-h265_fix ? Is there a way to force an FW UPDATE to happen?

PJR, I have the same issue going on right now that I am trying to resolve through their support email. Today I found that not only is my touchscreen not working and I also cannot access certain menu items without the touch screen (after a firmware update that I installed trying to get my AKASO microphone to work), also not working with the 11162018 firmware update is my WIFI to cell phone ability. I installed the AKASO_V50 Pro_08292018_V5 firmware and WIFI is working again. You should check yours, if WIFI connection is something you use. Many of the Settings are included in the AKASO App, but sadly AUTO LOW LIGHT and LONG EXPOSURE are not included there.

@ pjr: Maybe this September (dated 0829) firmware? It was sent to me as the "actual H.265 fix".

pjr Sorry, the mentioned file repository is not mine. See, please, my comments: I appended only one amazon link for the 08292018 firmware...

nutsey, "... using the FRM tool v2.8.6.6" did not work either: the PC does not recognise the V50 PRO as being present. I conclude that the FW "AKASO_V5-Pro_H265_180605-h265_fix" is bad in more than one way. If you have it, ditch it. Thank y'all for the help.

Does anyone have a means or recommendation on a software that can edit these .BRN files? I've tried two ways so far, and could see some actual code in english that matched the menu items, but I am not seeing the whole menu structure. I wanted to add a "fake" menu item underneath the ones that are being skipped over without the assistance of the touch screen so that those menu items can be accessed using the buttons only. Know what I mean?

I'm pretty sure there is no such a software for several reasons. You'll need to get the SDK source files in order to modify anything here...

is there a way to control these cameras with http commands, gopro style?

I have a Thieye t5 edge, using the icatch v50 SoC and want to control it from a Raspberry.

      Hi All,

I have a MGCool Explorer 3 and used the Akaso V50 Pro firmware because the MGCool firmware was buggy. However, since i use Akaso firmware the H265 record does not work. You can select it but the file sizes stay the same as with H264. I tried the V6 firmware and the H265 works again but the touchscreen does not. Only the hardware keys can be used. I also tried the MGCool firmware in the link above and the H265 works but the firmware is buggy.

Is there a way to use the V6 firmware and get the touchscreen working?

      Thanks,
      Martijn

did you also try AKASO_V50_Pro_20180802_V4 ?

you didn't give enough information above... so, give more details one-by-one of what firmware versions (with firmware dates) that you have used.

warning. you might brick your camera. see my collection of firmware http://pc.cd/GDkrtalK
